Digital Contracts

Replace fragmented Word documents with intelligent, template-driven contracts that capture structured data the moment a risk enters the market. Manage templates centrally, apply the right terms automatically and build a richer, more informed record of your book with every risk you place.

Contracts that capture more. Right from the start.

The traditional approach to contracts in the London Market is document-led. A broker opens a Word document, fills in the details, saves it and uploads it to the placing platform. But the data inside that document is largely locked away – difficult to access, analyse or reuse without manual effort. Digital Contracts transforms the process.

From documents to structured data

Digital Contracts allows brokers to create contracts directly within TradeEngine as structured data rather than as a document. Instead of typing every field into a Word file, information is captured in a structured, reusable format from the moment the contract is created, This approach releases the value of the data captured inside the contract, making reporting, analysis, downstream workflows and renewals faster, more accurate and far less reliant on manual intervention.

How Digital Contracts works

Digital Contracts is template-driven. Brokers, and the operations teams supporting them, can create contract templates for different types of risk using clause blocks, standard paragraphs and intelligent branching logic: If specific information is added to the contract, the relevant clauses are automatically included, or left out if not. The right contract is assembled for the right risk – every time

Managing templates centrally also makes updates significantly easier. Regulatory updates, policy changes or clause amendments can be updated once – and instantly apply to every  contract that uses that template, without hunting them down and changing them one by one. Full version history is maintained automatically, creating a clear and reliable audit trail throughout every contract’s lifecycle.

Efficient management at every scale

For large brokers, Digital Contracts supports the centralised governance operating at scale requires. Dedicated contract management teams can own and maintain template libraries, so everyone works from the correct and latest version of every contract. Compliance and operations teams can be confident the right contracts are going out every time, without manual checks.

Smaller brokers can manage a simpler set of templates themselves, providing easier contract creation, confidence in its accuracy, and a clean data record underpinning every placement.

Data that compounds over time

The value of Digital Contracts grows with every risk placed. Brokers immediately benefit from faster contract creation and reduced administrative effort. Renewals are faster and cleaner because the data from the previous year is already structured, complete and in the right place. Over time, firms build a genuinely rich analytical asset – by clause, condition, risk type or any other structured field captured at placement.

For carriers, contracts submitted as structured data can move directly into underwriting systems without manual reading or data entry, supporting faster and more accurate responses. Every bit of business handled as structured data helps the whole market operate more efficiently.

Works alongside API Integration

Digital Contracts delivers its greatest value alongside API Integration. The structured data captured through Digital Contracts can flow directly into carrier systems and downstream processes via API, without manual intervention. Together, they create a connected placement process where information is captured accurately at source and moves seamlessly through the trading lifecycle, from submission to renewal.
